Privacy Policy

Effective 25 August 2026

Overview

Kivo (“Kivo”) is a multiplayer memory card game you can play in a web browser and install as an app. This Privacy Policy explains what information Kivo processes when you use the service at https://www.kivogame.com and related apps.
Kivo does not sell personal information and does not run an advertising system that tracks you across other companies’ sites.

Information you provide

When you create a Kivo account, you may provide a display name, email address, and password. If you sign in with Google, we receive the account identifiers Google shares for sign-in (typically name and email used by Firebase Authentication). Kivo does not copy your Google profile photo into your Kivo profile by default.
You may choose to upload a profile photo. You choose your display name; display names are not unique. Kivo also assigns a Kivo Code used to find and distinguish players.
If you join a Real Life table as a guest without creating an account, Kivo uses a temporary anonymous sign-in identity and the display name you enter for that table. Guests do not receive a normal public Kivo profile unless they later create or sign into an account.

Account and profile information

Your private account record can include display name, email, profile photo reference, theme preferences, and related account metadata.
Your public profile (visible to other signed-in players) includes your display name, Kivo Code, and profile photo when you have one. Email addresses are not shown on public profiles.
Profile photos stored for public profile use may be readable via their storage URL. Treat uploads as potentially public to other players.

Gameplay and social data

To operate matches, Kivo processes game and session data such as who is in a match, public table state, your private hand view, matchmaking queue state, round and match results, and mode-specific extras (for example Turn-Based Recollection for information you have already learned, or Ranked rating changes).
Ranked ratings and the public Top 100 list are visible without requiring a signed-in session for ratings data. Match History for your own completed games is available when you are signed in.
If you use friends features, Kivo processes friend relationships, friend requests, and public-profile lookups or searches by Kivo Code or display name.

Notifications and devices

If you enable push notifications, Kivo stores a device record and push token so we can send gameplay alerts (especially Turn-Based). Notification preference state for Turn-Based alerts may be stored with that device registration.
You can leave notifications off. Blocking permission in the browser or OS prevents delivery until you change that setting.

Technical storage on your device

Kivo uses ordinary app and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember install or home prompts, store a local device id for notifications, and keep short-lived navigation or discovery signals. The web app may cache static assets through a service worker for installability and performance.
When you arrive from a marketing or share link, Kivo may store a first-touch acquisition record on your account (campaign parameters such as utm_source, referrer host, and landing path) so we can understand which links lead to signups. Visit counts used for internal growth metrics are session-deduplicated and do not include your email address. Kivo does not use third-party advertising analytics networks.
Authoritative Firebase Auth, Firestore, Functions, and Storage responses are not treated as long-lived offline gameplay caches. Kivo does not set advertising cookies for third-party ad networks.

How we use information

We use this information to create and secure accounts, run and protect gameplay (including server-authoritative match logic), show public profile identity to other players, operate matchmaking and rankings, deliver optional notifications, improve reliability, and enforce these Terms and this Policy.
Cloud Functions perform authoritative game mutations so clients cannot freely rewrite private engine state.

Service providers

Kivo relies on infrastructure providers to run the service, including Google Firebase / Google Cloud (authentication, database, storage, cloud functions, and related messaging), Vercel (web hosting), Expo (app tooling and Expo Push delivery for native notifications), and Google for Google sign-in.
These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the service. They are not listed here as advertising partners.

Sharing

We share information with service providers as needed to operate Kivo, when required by law, or to protect the service and other players.
Other players can see information that is intentionally public in-product: display name, Kivo Code, profile photo, and gameplay-facing public match state. Ranked rating values used for Top 100 may be visible more broadly. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and account deletion

We keep account and gameplay information while your account is active and as needed to operate the service, resolve abuse, and maintain shared match records for other participants.
If you delete your account from Settings, Kivo removes your private account record and related personal profile materials, signs you out of authentication, cleans push-device records, and tombstones your public profile so it no longer presents your identity. Pending friend requests and queue entries associated with you are cleared. Completed matches that other players still need for history are not wiped from the system solely because you deleted your account.
Where purchase or ledger records exist, required commercial records are anonymized rather than destroyed, so identity fields are stripped while the technical ledger can remain.

Security

We use industry-standard provider controls (authenticated access, server-enforced game rules, and storage rules) to protect accounts and gameplay. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Children

Kivo is a general-audience game service and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for the purpose of creating Kivo accounts. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us through the website so we can delete it.

International processing

Kivo is delivered through cloud infrastructure that may process data in more than one country, including facilities operated by our service providers. By using Kivo you understand that your information may be processed outside the country where you live, subject to the safeguards those providers offer.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can update profile details in the app, control notification permission on your device, and delete your account in Settings. For other requests, use the contact method below.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as Kivo evolves. The effective date at the top of the page will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
